Temple Shalom Sisterhood is open to Jewish women in the synagogue and in our local community. The Sisterhood has a proud tradition within the congregation, which began with our catering service and still continues with our newly renovated gift shop, our gift card and grocery gelt programs, and our Sisterhood programs.
We strive to meet the needs of women of all ages with diverse programming. Our yearly calendar includes Mah Jong, Bingo nights, Chick Flicks at the Movies, brunches with speakers, beading classes, dinners out, and trips to plays on Broadway.
The Sisterhood also leads services with their own liturgy once or twice a year, supports the religious school, reaches out to community groups such as The Women's Shelter and Libertae, and lends a hand to many of the other programs and services within the congregation.
The Mavens, a name that connotes wisdom and knowledge, is open to all members of the congregation and the Jewish community over the age of 55. The Mavens meet monthly for a breakfast, brunch or lunch with a speaker at the synagogue, or sometimes just for a meal and conversation at a local restaurant.
